NIKKEI / IZAKAYA
Nikkei food is not new to the world, but it’s still very nascent in India. This niche, nutrient-rich cuisine was essentially the lovechild of the Peruvian and Japanese — a generation-defining culinary affair that began all the way back in the late 1800s. At its core, Nikkei takes the most refined elements from ancient Japanese cooking techniques and pairs them with the strong, vibrant, piquant flavors of Peru and Brazil.
When you think Nikkei, think fresh, tropical fish, aji amarillo peppers, and zesty limes. Think ceviches and tiraditos … and crunchy karaage and melt-in-your-mouth robata meats. At Soy Como Soy, we bring you the best of Asian and South American flavors, bathing your plate and palate with fusions of food that will leave you satisfied yet insatiated.
Now coming to the izakaya influence. Izakayas are small, individually-owned Japanese bars that are ideal for an after-work unwind, similar to a pub, tapas bar or saloon. The vibe in an izakaya — as well as at Soy Como Soy — is casual yet chic, which we felt was the perfect setting to enjoy the fine Nikkei food. When you drop by, do also check out our open-layout cold bar where you can see dishes like sushi, dimsum, carpaccio and ceviche being made live. We’re proud of our culinary craftsmanship, and we like to put it on display.
